Will K-Beauty Stay in Your Routine?

As a beauty enthusiast and a devoted K-pop fan since my teenage years, I developed a keen interest in the intersection of K-beauty and K-pop. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, physical constraints hindered the traditional modes of K-pop fandom. However, to my surprise, the rise of social media, streaming media, and co-production without cultural boundaries facilitated the introduction of K-beauty to a broader audience in the United States, beyond the K-pop fandom. A similar trend occurred in China ten years ago.

 

To explore this fascinating phenomenon, I conducted an editorial research study from various perspectives, including consumer insights, cosmetics statistics, governmental regulation, and international relations. I employed several research methods such as case study, brand's annual report, published study, and social media tracking. Additionally, trend spotting analysis was central to my study since it lies at the core of the beauty industry. By synthesizing these diverse research streams, I was able to offer a reasoned and logical analysis of K-beauty in both eastern and western cultures. My study provided a perceptive outlook on this dynamic and rapidly evolving industry.

 

In conducting this study, I applied several critical skills such as research design, data analysis, and synthesis. I also demonstrated an aptitude for trend spotting analysis, which is essential in the beauty industry. Overall, my study represents my ability to undertake a comprehensive research project and offer an insightful analysis of a complex and dynamic subject.
